Name: Marina Mercer

Marina Mercer is a local Arizona setter who played at Arizona State University from 2005 through 2009. She helped to lead the Sun Devils to their first NCAA appearance since 2002 in the 2006. She was an athletic setter and a high-energy player. She was a standout prep athlete at Chandler High School. She was Business major graduating summa cum laude and is now in her last year of law school at Arizona State. Mercer has several academic and athletic accolades to her name, as she has been named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team three times as well as an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team member twice. She was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team (first) and to the ESPN The Magazine All-All District All-Academic Third Team as well...She is in the top three players in ASU career history for assists.

Mercer is a 2005 graduate of Chandler High School in Chandler, Arizona. She earned four varsity letter under head volleyball coach Darrin Ashmont, also played two years on the varsity basketball squad, and was a member of Student Council. She was captain of the volleyball team as a junior and senior. Mercer played club volleyball for Club Red Juniors (2002-05) for Coach Joe Hesse and ASU standout Courtney Blocher, and East Valley Juniors (1999-2001) under Jen Leo. She also played for the USA Volleyball/Arizona High Performance team in 2002. Mercer was part of six teams that were Arizona Region Champions on the club circuit. Mercer was named an AIA Scholar Athlete and received several scholar-athlete awards and the Superintendent's Citizenship Award.
